*** There are no Tropical Storm-related watches or warnings in effect for any portion of the Florida Keys. ***

Tropical Storm Melissa is expected to meander over the central Caribbean Sea for several days and is forecast to become a major hurricane by late this weekend or early next week. There remains significant uncertainty in the track forecast of Melissa, with the most significant direct impacts first involving portions of Hispañola and Jamaica.

Direct weather impacts from Melissa are not expected in the Florida Keys through early next week at this time.

The combination of the tropical cyclone’s low pressure and a large area of high pressure along the eastern United States coast will combine to cause windy and hazardous marine conditions in and around the Florida Keys beginning tonight and likely continuing into early next week.
