American Sailing Academy in Key Largo offers a premier, hands-on sailing education experience set against the stunning backdrop of the Florida Keys. Known for its welcoming, expert instructors and immersive curriculum, the Academy is dedicated to teaching students of all ages and experience levels the art and science of sailing. Our American Sailing Association (ASA)-certified courses range from beginner to advanced, covering everything from basic sailing techniques to advanced cruising and catamaran handling.
Students begin on our 22' Catalina sailboats, progressing to larger vessels like the 34’ Catalina and the 37’ catamaran as they build confidence and skill. The program emphasizes a patient, enjoyable learning journey, encouraging sailors to take their time mastering each level, with options for ASA 101, ASA 103, ASA 104, and ASA 114 certifications. For those aspiring to share their passion for sailing, we also offer an Instructor Qualification Clinic (IQC) that enables graduates to become certified instructors themselves.
With sailing destinations including mangrove jungles, Nest Key, and various bird rookeries, our courses are as adventurous as they are educational.
