7 Mile Grill

7 Mile Grill has been sitting at mile marker 47.5 in Marathon since 1954, right at the foot of the Seven Mile Bridge and next door to the marina. It is open air and no frills, a counter under a roof beside the boats, and that is most of the appeal.

The menu is Keys seafood with a Greek streak. Grouper and mahi sandwiches come blackened, grilled or fried, alongside shrimp and fish baskets, conch fritters and coconut shrimp, and the Greek salad and souvlaki platter have been on the board long enough to count as part of the identity. Breakfast runs from 7 until 11:30 with eggs, bacon, grits and biscuits, and there is an early bird special on weekday mornings. The key lime pie is made in house and it is the thing most people come back talking about.

If you spent the morning on the water, bring your fish in and the kitchen will cook it for you. Beer and wine are served, the setting is casual enough for a family walking up straight off a boat, and the doors are open from 7 in the morning to 9 at night most days with an earlier close on Thursdays.
