Bug Ceramics Pottery Studio & Gallery is Key West's first and only community pottery studio, founded by self-taught artist and Florida Keys native Gayle Antonides in Suite 216 at the Shops at Mallory Square — just steps from the famous Mallory Square Sunset Celebration — as a space where creativity, community, and sustainable art practices come together in the heart of Old Town. The studio offers year-round hand-building and wheel-throwing pottery classes for beginners and experienced potters alike, private pottery events for bachelorette parties, work outings, birthday celebrations, and group visits, and a Bisqueware Painting Bar where walk-in guests can choose from a wide selection of premade pieces and paint using lead-free, food-safe glazes that are then glazed and kiln-fired in the studio. The gallery showcases an ever-rotating collection of handcrafted ceramic pieces by Gayle and a global community of artist friends — from Key West locals to international makers — making every visit a chance to find a one-of-a-kind piece of handmade art. Committed to sustainable art practices, Bug Ceramics is a certified Plastic Free 305 business that reclaims all clay scraps, limits kiln loads, uses reused packaging, and operates a three-bucket wash system to conserve and recycle water.
