Caloosa Cove Resort
Caloosa Cove Resort & Marina sits on 15 oceanfront acres at mile marker 73.5 on Lower Matecumbe Key in Islamorada. All 30 suites face the water, and every one has a full kitchen, a private balcony and an ocean view. They come as junior suites with a queen and a sofa bed, den suites with a queen and two sofa beds, and full suites with two queens in a separate bedroom, so a family can spread out without booking two rooms.
The middle of the property is the pool deck, heated and sitting between the rooms and the ocean, with a sandy beach beside it and a pool access lift for anyone who needs one. There is a lighted tennis court, a pickleball court, a basketball court and shuffleboard, which is more court sport than most Keys resorts bother with. Habano's Oceanfront Restaurant serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, and the cooking is Cuban inspired.
The marina is a working one rather than a decoration. Thirty wet slips take boats up to 50 feet with water and 30 and 50 amp power, and 80 dry racks hold boats up to 30 feet inside an enclosed building. There is gas and diesel at the dock, laundry, showers, and the Island Store for fishing licenses, bait, tackle, ice, beer, wine, groceries and hardware. Inshore and offshore charter boats run right out of the marina. Call the resort at (305) 664-8811 or the marina at (305) 664-4455.
