Crustacean Plantation

Founded in 2019 in Tavernier, Crustacean Plantation Inc. protects wild hermit crabs of the Florida Keys by providing essential shell transfer stations, educational outreach, and volunteer-driven conservation efforts. Their mission—summed up in the motto “Leave the Shell, Take the Memory”—encourages visitors to return unused shells to the wild, ensuring these long-lived creatures can continue their natural growth and life cycles.
