JD's Bait & Tackle, Marina and Beach Park

JD's Marina & Beach is the newest of JD Outdoor Adventures' three stores, at 104100 Overseas Highway, mile marker 104 bayside in Key Largo, next door to the Caribbean Club. It runs as a bait and tackle shop and a marina at the same time, open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 5:30 a.m. Friday through Sunday.

On the water side there are wet slips and dry boat storage, with a dock master on his own line for anyone tying up. On the shop side it is the usual JD's spread: live and frozen bait, fishing gear, marine parts, and sun protection apparel for people about to spend a day squinting at water. The boat side of the business covers Gheenoe, Matecumbe, SkimmerSkiff, Floyd Skiff Co. and Crescent Kayaks, along with outboards.

What makes this location different from the other two is the private beach, which is open to day passes. A bayside beach at mile marker 104 means the sunset lands in front of you, and being next door to the Caribbean Club means the rest of the evening tends to sort itself out.
