Maria Wagner Artworks
Maria Wagner is an Islamorada artist whose signature work is hand-painted functional objects. Mailboxes and license plates get original designs in wildlife, nature and ocean themes, sea turtles and manatees, octopuses, mangroves, lighthouses and tropical scenes, finished to live outdoors in Keys weather. A painted mailbox is an unusual thing to want until you see one, and then it is hard to unsee on a street of plain ones.
She is part of the Upper Keys art community rather than working alone. She has shown in group summer exhibits in Islamorada alongside artists including John David Hawver, Taylor Hale, Jessica Ann and Lisa Lee, and she took part in the Good Vibes Art Show, an outdoor pop-up on Old Highway that raised money for MarrVelous Pet Rescues and the Upper Keys Humane Society.
Her work is available by mail order, so a piece can go home without going in a suitcase. Contact her directly for custom designs, and watch the Islamorada arts calendar for the group shows where you can see the work in person.
