Pelagic Raptors Charters fishes out of Islamorada with Capt. Mike aboard a 39 foot Contender running triple Yamaha 300s, 900 horsepower in all. The boat is built for long days offshore: Simrad electronics, tournament grade tackle, a private marine head, a cabin with seating, and a Seakeeper 3 gyro stabilizer, which is the thing that keeps the deck from rolling while you are sitting over a swordfish drop.

Trips are built around how long you want to be out. The four hour Quick Strike, six hour Sweet Spot and eight hour Full Day Pursuit cover the standard range, and past those are a ten hour swordfish expedition, tarpon and shark trips, and a sandbar and island run for groups who would rather swim than fish. Six anglers maximum.

The species list is a proper Keys offshore spread: sailfish, mahi, wahoo, blackfin tuna, blue marlin, amberjack, cobia, black grouper, yellowtail snapper, tilefish and swordfish. Rods, reels, lures and your fishing license come with the charter. Call (305) 570-5616.
