Sting Rea Charters is a premier fly fishing and light tackle guide service based on Sugarloaf Key in the Lower Florida Keys, led by Captain Justin Rea, a U.S. Coast Guard certified captain who has been guiding the waters of the Florida Keys since 2001. Captain Rea began his guiding career on the mountain rivers of Idaho and California before relocating permanently to the Keys, bringing a freshwater fly fishing foundation that gives him a unique edge in teaching casting mechanics and reading water to saltwater anglers. Sting Rea Charters specializes in sight fishing for tarpon, permit, and bonefish across the Lower Keys, Key West, and the Marquesas, with Captain Rea trailing his custom Chittum skiff to fish anywhere from Key West to Key Largo depending on conditions. Captain Rea is one of the most decorated tournament guides in the Florida Keys, earning the 2023 March Merkin Permit Tournament Grand Champion title after landing six permit in a single day.
