Stone Soup Gallery & Frame Shop

Stone Soup Gallery & Frame Shop recently moved into 209 Simonton Street, a block off Duval in Old Town, and it does two things under one roof. The front is a gallery of work by Keys artists. The back is a full custom frame shop, which is the part that makes it genuinely useful if you are buying art while traveling.

The roster runs to nineteen artists and mixes established names with people still building a following. It currently includes J. H. Allen, Roger Bigg, Jessica Connell, Connie Dallas, Tracey DeLellis, Sean Dwyer, Will Fernandez, Tom Flip, Scott Gruppe, Bill Hartman, Kathleen Husted, Judi Lank, Lucy Paige, Larry Thimmesch, Andy Thurber, Neva Townsend, Kelly Walkotten, R M Walter and Louis Zaslow, working across painting, sculpture, printmaking and craft. The gallery rotates a featured artist and hangs a new show each month.

Through the season it holds a monthly opening with live music and wine, which is the easiest night to meet the artists rather than just look at the work.

On the framing side, the shop will frame a piece you buy there to your own taste, and it can pack and ship the finished work to wherever you are going, so a canvas does not have to ride home in your lap. It also takes outside framing jobs.

The gallery keeps shorter hours than most of the Duval-adjacent shops and is closed Sundays, so it is worth checking before you walk over.
