The Buzzard's Roost

The Buzzard's Roost sits at 21 Garden Cove Drive in Key Largo, mile marker 106.5 oceanside, a block off US-1 at the end of North End Road and right on the water at Garden Cove Marina. It is not somewhere you stumble past on the highway, which is part of why people like it. Boaters can come straight in, since the restaurant publishes its coordinates and the marina next door has gas and bait.

The kitchen leans local seafood. Ceviche, shrimp, smoked fish dip and whatever came in fresh anchor the menu, with steaks including a filet oscar for anyone who did not come to the Keys for fish, and homemade desserts with key lime pie among them. Lunch and dinner run 11:30 to 9 Monday through Saturday.

Sunday is the day worth planning around. Brunch runs 10:30 to 2 with steel drums playing and the first mimosa complimentary, and the kitchen stays open until 9. Live music turns up most Friday and Saturday nights as well. Call (305) 453-3746.
