As the countdown to midnight begins, crowds gather to watch a spectacular Key West twist on the traditional New Year's Eve ball drop. Instead of a glittering ball, a larger-than-life, sparkling red high heel descends from the balcony of the Bourbon St. Pub, carrying a glamorous drag queen dressed for the occasion.

This beloved celebration brings together elaborate costumes, lively entertainment, music, and an electric street-party atmosphere, transforming Duval Street into a festive gathering place for locals and visitors alike.

The Red Shoe Drop has become one of the island's signature New Year's Eve celebrations, showcasing Key West's playful spirit, creativity, and longstanding LGBTQ+ culture. The festivities draw large crowds each year, with the midnight countdown serving as the evening's grand finale.
