Islamorada Junior Sailfish Tournament

December 11–13, 2026. Celebrate more than six decades of youth sportfishing during the 61st Annual Islamorada Junior Sailfish Tournament, a Florida Keys tradition dedicated to introducing young anglers to offshore fishing, sportsmanship, and conservation.

Open to anglers age 16 and younger, the tournament challenges junior competitors to pursue sailfish in the waters off Islamorada. Fishing follows a catch-and-release format, with sailfish released unharmed and points awarded for successful releases.

Tournament weekend begins with a welcome party at The Sandbar at Whale Harbor, where anglers can meet fellow competitors and prepare for the weekend ahead. Two days of fishing follow, with lines in at 8 a.m. and lines out at 3 p.m. The tournament concludes with an awards celebration recognizing the accomplishments of the young anglers.

Beyond the competition, the weekend includes raffles, a silent auction, family activities, and plenty of camaraderie. A portion of tournament proceeds supports the Coral Shores High School Fishing Club, helping encourage and equip the next generation of Florida Keys anglers.

Established in 1964, the Islamorada Junior Sailfish Tournament has introduced generations of young anglers to the traditions of sportfishing while emphasizing teamwork, responsible angling, and respect for the marine environment.
