Shooting Star

Shooting Star

December 8, 2026, through January 2, 2027. Settle in for a heartwarming night of theater as Steven Dietz’s romantic comedy Shooting Star opens the Red Barn Theatre’s 2026–2027 mainstage season in Key West.

The two-person play follows former college sweethearts Elena Carson and Reed McAllister, who unexpectedly reunite after years apart when they become snowed in overnight at a Midwestern airport. With nowhere to go, the pair begins revisiting their shared past and discovering just how much, and how little, has changed since their college days.

As the night unfolds through laughter, banter, memories, and a few unexpected revelations, Elena and Reed confront the choices that sent their lives in different directions and what their chance reunion might mean. The result is a funny and touching story about lost love, second chances, and the unexpected paths life can take.

The Red Barn production stars Lauren Thompson and Dave Bootle, with Artistic Director Joy Hawkins directing. Performances begin at 7 p.m., with additional Monday performances scheduled during the holiday run. There are no performances on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Eve.

Shooting Star runs at the Red Barn Theatre, 319 Duval Street (rear), Key West, an intimate Old Town theater that brings audiences close to the action.

Spend a holiday-season evening at the Red Barn with a warm, witty romantic comedy about reconnecting with the people, and possibilities, we thought we had left behind.
