Hub for information about DACs, committees and umbrellas for the Monroe County Tourism Development Council.

TDC committees include:

  • District Advisory Committee (DAC) I - representing the city limits of Key West
  • District Advisory Committee (DAC) II - representing the City Limits of Key West to the West End of the Seven Mile Bridge
  • District Advisory Committee (DAC) III - representing the west end of the Seven Mile Bridge to the Long Key Bridge
  • District Advisory Committee (DAC) IV - representing between the Long Key Bridge and mile marker 90.939
  • District Advisory Committee (DAC) V - representing from mile marker 90.940 to the Dade/Monroe County line and any mainland portions of Monroe County 
  • Fishing Advisory Committee - represents countywide funding for tourism related fishing activities and marketing
  • Dive & Ecotourism Advisory Committee - represents countywide funding for dive and ecotourism activities and related marketing
  • Cultural Umbrella - represents advertising, promotion and marketing of cultural events. Managed by the Florida Keys Council of the Arts

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN: Cultural Umbrella Committee District IV, DAC IV (Tourist Rep), DAC V (Lodging Rep), DAC V (At Large)

Cultural Umbrella Committee Opening - District IV

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is accepting letters of interest for an opening on the Cultural Umbrella Committee of the Tourist Development Council. 

  • The committee member must live between the Long Key Bridge and mile marker 90.939. 
  • The committee member will serve a partial term beginning immediately upon approval and will go through September 30, 2028. 

To be eligible to serve on the Committee of the Cultural Umbrella, a person must: 

  1.  Currently reside in the Tourist Development Committee District to which appointed for a minimum of two years. (between the Long Key Bridge and mile marker 90.939.)
  2.  Have demonstrated significant support and advocacy for art and culture or work as an artist (visual, performing, literary, historic). 
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the prime importance of art and culture to the economy and to the quality of life of Monroe County citizens and guests. 
  4.  Receive no income in an administrative capacity from an entity or individual that was awarded Cultural Umbrella event funding in the past fiscal year or that applies in the current year.

March 15 - DAC IV Cultural Umbrella

The Tourist Development Council (TDC) has upcoming vacancies on two committees with terms beginning in April 2026. Details are in the application documents below.

  • District V: From Mile Marker 90.940 to the Dade/Monroe County Line and any Mainland Portions of Monroe County
  • Application (deadline March 27, 2026)

DAC Rep definitions

TOURIST REPRESENTATIVE - shall be persons involved in business which is interdependent upon the tourist industry who have demonstrated an interest in tourist development but who shall not be employed in any position listed above within the lodging industry (motels, hotels, recreational vehicle parks, and other tourist accommodations and whose business is in the tax collection district for which they are applying).

LODGING REPRESENTATIVE – shall be owners or operating/general managers assistant general managers, director of sales and/or marketing, director of engineering, director of food and beverage, director of operations/rooms, comptroller as executive (exempt employee level) positions of motels, hotels, recreational vehicle parks, or other tourist accommodations which are subject to bed tax in the tax collection district for which they are applying).

AT LARGE REPRESENTATIVE – Any resident who is not directly involved in a tourism business and who shall represent the general public and shall live or work within the tax collection district for which they are applying. (The operative word within this description is directly. This means no direct involvement by an applicant in a business or economic activity that is dependent upon tourism).
