Seven Mile Bridge Closed Saturday April 11
The Seven Mile Bridge, longest of the 42 bridges that comprise the Florida Keys Overseas Highway, will close to traffic in both directions from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, for the annual 7 Mile Bridge Run.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office advises that all drivers must be fully across the bridge before 6 a.m. when the shutdown begins, with no exceptions.
The bridge connects Marathon in the Middle Keys to Little Duck Key in the Lower Keys.
Visitors planning early morning northbound trips from Key West and the Lower Keys should adjust their schedule to account for the delay in travel. Travelers headed to the Lower Keys and Key West will need to remain on the Marathon side from the time the bridge closes at 6 a.m. until it reopens at 9 a.m.
The race attracts 1,500 participants each year and is considered a bucket list footrace, attracting participants from around the country and the world, as well as many Keys residents.
The race began as a dedication run in 1982, celebrating the opening of the “new” Seven Mile Bridge.
