A Criminal History of the Everglades: Thomas Lockyear
Join the Florida Keys History & Discovery Center for an engaging lecture, “A Criminal History of the Everglades,” presented by Thomas Lockyear, Museum Manager at the Museum of the Everglades. This fascinating program explores the lesser-known stories of the Everglades—from bootleggers and bank robbers to smugglers and outlaws—revealing how Florida’s vast wilderness once served as both refuge and opportunity for those operating outside the law.
Guests will learn about the region’s hidden history of crime, survival, and law enforcement in one of Florida’s most remote and mysterious landscapes. The event is free for History & Discovery Center members and $10 for non-members. Attendees can also enjoy a cash bar and light appetizers before the lecture begins.
