Call to Artists: LGBTQ+ Mural at 801 Duval Street

Proposals are due Friday, October 9, 2026 at 5 PM. The Key West Business Guild is seeking professional artists and artist teams to submit original concepts for a permanent mural at 801 Duval Street, at the iconic intersection of Duval and Petronia streets.

This location holds special significance. For years, the rainbow crosswalks at this intersection served as a visible symbol of Pride, belonging and the enduring presence of Key West's LGBTQ+ community. Now the Guild is looking for an artist to help carry that story forward.

The Guild wants to see a concept that is bold, creative, meaningful and unmistakably Key West, one that draws inspiration from the rainbow crosswalks while telling the broader story of Key West's LGBTQ+ history, culture, people and community.

The project budget is up to $25,000. Artist selection is set for October 14, 2026. Following selection, the project is anticipated to move forward for consideration by HARC on November 17, followed by the Key West City Commission on December 3, pending HARC recommendation.

Professional artists and artist teams from Key West and beyond are encouraged to apply. Artists must read and download the KWBG Mural Proposal Guidelines to be considered.
