Casting for Cats Backcountry Tournament

The annual Casting for Cats Backcountry Fishing Tournament is a longtime Upper Keys tradition benefiting Casting for Cats, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting spay/neuter programs and providing care for feral cats throughout the Florida Keys. Since its founding in 2001, the tournament has grown from a one-day ladies’ fishing event into a major community fundraiser supporting local animal welfare efforts.
The 2026 tournament will take place October 16–17, beginning at Islander Resort and continuing throughout the weekend with tournament activities, fishing, social events, and an awards celebration. The event now features ladies’, co-ed, and junior divisions, welcoming anglers of all ages and experience levels to participate while supporting an important cause in the community.
