Florida Keys Wildlife Society Lecture: Dr. Jason Downing
Thursday, November 12, 2026, from 7 to 8 p.m. in Big Pine Key. Doors open at 6:30. Free and open to the public.
The Florida Keys Wildlife Society lecture series brings Dr. Jason Downing of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami to the Nature Center in Big Pine Key.
The series runs on Thursday evenings through the season and fills a small room, so arriving when the doors open at 6:30 is worth it. Seating is limited to 52.
The Nature Center sits at 30587 Overseas Highway in Big Pine Key and is the visitor gateway to the National Key Deer Refuge, open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
The season continues December 10 with Chris Rothwell of the National Weather Service in Key West, then January 14 with Dr. Steffanie Munguia of Zoo Miami, February 11 with Dr. Doug Mader, and February 25 with Dr. Jerry Lorenz of Florida Audubon.
