History of Weather Forecasting in the Florida Keys

Join meteorologist Jonathan Rizzo on Thursday, January 15 for “A History of Weather Forecasting in the Florida Keys,” part of the Key West Art & Historical Society’s Distinguished Speaker Series. Held 6–7 p.m. at the Tropic Cinema (416 Eaton St., Key West), the talk will trace the evolution of weather observing and forecasting in the Keys—from the early U.S. Lighthouse Board and Signal Corps offices to today’s National Weather Service. Through historic photographs and firsthand anecdotes, Rizzo will share how early forecasters predicted extreme conditions in this uniquely challenging region and how those advances shaped life in the islands. Tickets are $13 for KWAHS members and $17 for non-members (available online or at the door); reserve at [kwahs.org/whats-on](http://kwahs.org/whats-on).
