Lignumvitae Christmas

Celebrate the holiday season with a unique island experience at Lignumvitae Christmas, held at Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park in Islamorada. Accessible only by boat, this preserved tropical island offers a festive celebration surrounded by the natural beauty and history of the Florida Keys.

The event features the historic Matheson House, a two-story home built by William J. Matheson, which is decorated for the holidays. Visitors can explore the island's history and enjoy a rare opportunity to experience this protected state park.

Past celebrations have included guided nature walks along trails normally closed to the public, historic house tours, live holiday music, traditional games, arts and crafts, and storytelling.

Tickets include round-trip ferry transportation from Robbie's Marina, park admission and tour fees. Tickets go on sale online November 1, and advance reservations are strongly encouraged, as the event has sold out in previous years.

Presented by the Friends of the Islamorada Area State Parks in partnership with Florida State Parks, this annual celebration brings holiday traditions to one of the Florida Keys' most distinctive historic settings.
