Sports fans with a need for speed can fuel their passion at the Race World Offshore Key West World Championship, set for Sunday through Sunday, Nov. 2–9, in the turquoise waters surrounding the island city.
Each year, Key West transforms into an electrifying arena for the world’s best powerboat racers. The championship marks the season finale of offshore racing — where innovation, teamwork, and raw horsepower collide in a spectacular test of skill and endurance.
HIGH-SPEED ACTION ON KEY WEST'S LEGENDARY COURSE
Spectators can expect nonstop excitement as sleek boats roar through a 4-plus mile-per-lap course that includes Key West Harbor. Known for its challenging mix of rough and calm waters, it’s one of the world’s most dynamic venues — demanding peak performance from every racer.
The course’s spectator-friendly layout allows fans to get breathtakingly close to the action, sharing every adrenaline-charged moment as competitors jockey for position.
BEST VIEWING SPOTS AROUND THE ISLAND
Fans can take in the races from popular vantage points including the Race Village at Truman Waterfront Park, Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, Mallory Square, Sunset Pier, Simonton Street Beach, and harbor front hotels with water views.
The Race Village, located at the end of Southard Street near the “Outer Mole” pier, offers unbeatable views, live entertainment, refreshments, and the high-energy atmosphere that makes Key West famous. RACE SCHEDULE AND SPECIAL EVENTS
The excitement begins Sunday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m. with a colorful parade of race boats along Whitehead and Duval streets. Racing heats up midweek, with competitions Wednesday, Nov. 5; Friday, Nov. 7; and Sunday, Nov. 9 — featuring six races each day, starting at 10 a.m. and continuing through 3:15 p.m.
Off the course, fans can meet the teams, see in-water testing runs, and join in themed events throughout the week — including the build-a-boat contest on Saturday, Nov. 8.
After Sunday’s final race, the world champions will be crowned during an awards ceremony at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater, 21 E. Quay Road in Truman Waterfront Park.
