REEF Fish & Friends: Artificial Reefs in the Florida Keys

Tuesday, November 10, 2026, in Key Largo. Social hour from 6 p.m., presentation from 7 to 8 p.m. Free.

REEF's monthly Fish and Friends seminar turns to artificial reefs in the Florida Keys, with Dr. Hanna Koch.

Artificial reefs are one of the more quietly ambitious things happening in these waters: sunken structure that gives marine life somewhere to settle, gives divers and anglers somewhere new to go, and takes pressure off the natural reef tract. Koch has been at the center of Monroe County's program.

Fish and Friends runs on the second Tuesday of every month at the REEF Ocean Exploration Center in Key Largo. The format is an easy one: a social hour in the garden from 6, then the talk at 7. It is free, and it streams live on Facebook and YouTube if you cannot get up the road.

The center sits at mile marker 98.3, 98380 Overseas Highway, in the median off Bahama Road, and it is free to visit during regular hours.
