Slow Passage of Time: A Culinary Experience in the Oldest House

Slow Passage of Time: A Culinary Experience in the Oldest House

Thursday, October 29, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Old Island Restoration Foundation opens the Oldest House Museum after hours for a five-course wine-paired dinner seated for just ten guests.

The evening starts at 6:00 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres and bubbles in the Tom Majors Garden, then moves inside at 7:00 p.m. for dinner. Chef Juan Cuadra of Salty Chef prepares and serves each course, with wine selected to match. Cuadra is a Le Cordon Bleu graduate and a Marine veteran with more than 20 years in luxury hospitality, and he builds his menus around his Nicaraguan heritage and what Key West has on hand.

The setting is the point. The Oldest House at 322 Duval Street was built around 1826 by Richard Cussans, which puts it at roughly two centuries of standing through hurricanes, fires and everything Key West has done to itself since. Dinner is served inside it, after the museum has closed to the public.

Ten seats means this fills quickly and the room stays conversational. Tickets are $200 per person.

The Old Island Restoration Foundation was founded in 1960 to preserve, celebrate and promote Key West's architecture, culture and history, and it operates the Oldest House Museum & Tom Majors Garden. Reservations at OIRF.org.
