Spotlight Series: The Gleaners and I

This March, the Spotlight Series, proudly underwritten by the Florida Council on the Arts, honors Women’s Month by pairing meaningful film with community impact. Each week, the National Organization for Women (NOW) will be featured prior to the screening to share their mission and explain how a portion of that evening’s ticket sales will support their work.

**About the Film**
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Agnès Varda, The Gleaners and I (2000) is a thoughtful and poetic French documentary exploring the lives of modern-day gleaners — individuals who collect leftover crops from fields, discarded food from markets, and unwanted items from city streets. Blending documentary storytelling with personal reflection, Varda turns the camera on herself, drawing parallels between traditional gleaning and her own process of gathering images and stories. The film offers a moving meditation on waste, survival, art, and the unexpected beauty found in what society leaves behind.

Join us for an evening of reflection, conversation, and community connection through the power of film.
