The Hoy Shanty Crew Sing-Along

Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Islamorada.

Ahoy, mateys. For the first time ever, the History of Diving Museum presents The Hoy Shanty Crew Sing-Along, an evening of the musical traditions of life at sea.

At 6:00 p.m., Tony Prior of the maritime folk band shares the history and origins of sea shanties and explores their fascinating connection to the Florida Keys. Then it is your turn to join the crew. Sing along to traditional maritime songs, learn a few shanties, and enjoy an evening of nautical music, good company and Keys history.

Fill your pint glass with homebrew beer and raise a toast to the sailors, divers and maritime traditions that helped shape the Florida Keys. For a $10 donation you receive a custom History of Diving Museum pint glass.

There are light refreshments, raffles with some great prizes, and a room full of fellow shanty enthusiasts. No prior singing ability required, and frankly none expected.
