Writing a Life: The Building Blocks of Memoir with Janice Gary

Wednesday, December 2, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Janice Gary teaches the building blocks of memoir at The Studios of Key West, a two-hour workshop on turning a life into a book someone wants to read.

Gary writes the form she teaches. Her memoir Short Leash: A Memoir of Dog Walking and Deliverance is an award winner, and she also wrote Fearless: Women’s Journeys To Self-Empowerment. She is a Pushcart nominated essayist whose work has appeared in Brevity, Longreads and River Teeth, and she has run a long-standing memoir class through Anne Arundel Community College in Annapolis.

She also writes a Substack of postcards from Key West, so the teaching is local rather than visiting.

Tuition is $150, at 533 Eaton Street.
