Islamorada Witches Paddle & Halloween Costume Swap

Islamorada Witches Paddle & Halloween Costume Swap

Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Witches, warlocks, and families are invited to grab a paddle and celebrate spooky season on the water during the Islamorada Witches Paddle & Halloween Costume Swap at Green Turtle Hammock Nature Preserve.

Dress in your witchiest attire and launch a kayak or paddleboard from the preserve. Participants can gather with their fellow costumed paddlers in Little Basin or explore the surrounding mangroves. Costume prizes will be awarded between noon and 12:30 p.m.

Bringing your own kayak or paddleboard is recommended. Paddle the Florida Keys will also be on site with a limited number of boards available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The festivities continue on land with Surfrider’s Costume Swap Eco-Shop. Bring a gently used Halloween costume to donate and browse the swap for a free, new-to-you look. Costumes for children, teens, and adults are welcome, giving old costumes another life while keeping them out of the waste stream.

The event is free and open to the public. Participants taking to the water must follow preserve rules and U.S. Coast Guard regulations for nonmotorized vessels.

The event takes place at Green Turtle Hammock Nature Preserve, 81224 Overseas Highway in Islamorada, a bayside natural area with a hammock trail, parking, and access to the boat basin.

Grab your broom, board, or kayak, put on your best costume, and join a coven of paddlers for a Halloween celebration with an Islamorada twist.
