Fantasy Fest

Fantasy Fest

Each October, Fantasy Fest transforms Key West into a colorful celebration of costumes, creativity, music, and performance. The multi-day festival was founded in 1979 by local business owners looking to bring visitors to the island during what was traditionally a slower season and has since become one of Key West’s signature annual celebrations.

Throughout the festival, elaborate costumes, masks, body paint, and imaginative themes take over the island. The schedule features dozens of individual events, ranging from themed parties and masquerades to live entertainment, community celebrations, costume competitions, and lively street events.

Longtime Fantasy Fest traditions include the Royal Coronation, Bahama Village Goombay Festival, Zombie Bike Ride, Tutu Tuesday, Pet Masquerade, and Masquerade March. The celebration culminates with the spectacular Fantasy Fest Parade, when elaborate floats, costumed groups, performers, and revelers make their way through downtown Key West.

Fantasy Fest also has strong ties to the local community. Events and campaigns held throughout the season have supported charitable organizations, while the festival brings visitors to local hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, and entertainment venues.

From intricate handmade costumes and theatrical performances to beloved Key West traditions, Fantasy Fest is a celebration of imagination and self-expression unlike anywhere else in the Florida Keys.
