The Hoy Shanty Crew Sing-Along
Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Raise your voice and discover the musical traditions of life at sea during the first-ever Hoy Shanty Crew Sing-Along at the History of Diving Museum in Islamorada.
The evening begins with Tony Prior of The Hoy Shanty Crew, who will share the history and origins of sea shanties, including how these traditional working songs helped sailing crews coordinate tasks aboard ships and their connections to maritime life in the Florida Keys.
Then it is time to join the crew. Guests can sing along to traditional maritime songs, learn a few shanties, and experience the music that once accompanied sailors at work and at leisure. No previous singing experience is necessary.
A $10 donation includes a custom History of Diving Museum pint glass, which guests can fill with homebrew beer during the festivities. The evening also includes light refreshments and raffles.
The event takes place at the History of Diving Museum, 82990 Overseas Highway, Mile Marker 83 in Islamorada.
Come for the maritime history, stay for the songs, and raise a glass to the sailors, divers, and seafaring traditions that helped shape the Florida Keys.
