Coral Restoration Foundation Volunteer Dive Program

Coral Restoration Foundation Volunteer Dive Program

Dive into marine conservation and experience reef restoration firsthand with the Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF), a Key Largo-based organization dedicated to restoring coral reefs and protecting the future of the Florida Reef Tract.

The experience begins at CRF’s Exploration Center in Key Largo, where participants learn about coral reef ecology, the challenges facing Florida’s reefs, and the science and techniques being used to restore these important ecosystems. CRF works with a diverse collection of coral genotypes and species, including threatened and endangered corals, with the goal of building healthier and more resilient reefs.

After learning and practicing restoration techniques on land, participants can head out on the water alongside CRF’s Coral Crew. At offshore nurseries and restoration sites, qualified volunteers may take part in working dives to maintain coral nurseries, clean and prepare corals, and assist with restoration activities while seeing firsthand how small coral fragments can develop into thriving structures that provide habitat for marine life.

Thousands of divers have participated in CRF’s restoration efforts, combining a day of underwater adventure with an opportunity to contribute to meaningful conservation work. Opportunities are also available for non-divers, making it possible for ocean enthusiasts with different experience levels to get involved.

Whether you’re an experienced diver or simply passionate about protecting the marine environment, volunteering with CRF offers an unforgettable way to learn about coral science and play a hands-on role in the future of Florida’s reefs.

Gear up, dive in, and become part of the effort to restore and protect the spectacular coral reefs of the Florida Keys.
