Come together for a heartfelt evening of gratitude and community as Islamorada welcomes 25 wounded and disabled U.S. military veterans participating in the 12th Annual Fish With A Hero Islamorada Event.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Worldwide Sportsman, where residents, visitors, local businesses, and community leaders will gather alongside members of the Islamorada Fire Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to give the arriving veterans a warm Florida Keys welcome.
From there, the celebration moves to the Islamorada Fish Company for a public welcome reception hosted by Bastion Fiduciary through 8 p.m. Guests will have an opportunity to meet the participating veterans, share in the evening’s camaraderie, and personally thank them for their service.
The reception kicks off four meaningful days in the Florida Keys centered around therapeutic fishing, fellowship, and connection, including two days on the water with local volunteer captains. The Fish With A Hero program uses fishing and time outdoors to provide veterans an opportunity to relax, reconnect, and build bonds with others who understand the transition from military to civilian life.
Over the years, the event has grown into an annual Islamorada tradition, bringing together local fishing captains, first responders, businesses, volunteers, and residents to ensure participating veterans feel welcomed and supported throughout their stay.
