Surfrider Foundation Florida Keys Cleanups & Water Quality Monitoring

Join the effort to protect the ocean, beaches, and coastal habitats of the Florida Keys by volunteering with the Surfrider Foundation’s Florida Keys Chapter.

Part of a global network dedicated to protecting coastlines and clean water, the local chapter offers hands-on volunteer opportunities from Key Largo to Key West, giving residents and visitors meaningful ways to care for the marine environment.

Every other month, volunteers come together for beach and mangrove cleanups throughout the island chain, removing litter and debris before it can enter the water or harm wildlife. These welcoming, community-focused events are open to everyone, with no previous experience required.

Those interested in citizen science can also get involved with Surfrider’s Blue Water Task Force, a volunteer water-quality monitoring program with ongoing opportunities in the Upper Keys. Participants help collect and test water samples, contributing valuable information about the health and safety of local waterways.

Whether you prefer spending a morning cleaning the shoreline or getting involved with water-quality monitoring, the Florida Keys Chapter offers an opportunity to connect with fellow ocean advocates while making a positive contribution to the environment.

Lend a hand, meet like-minded volunteers, and help keep the Florida Keys’ waters and beaches clean and healthy for generations to come!
