CRF Public Dive Program with Island Ventures

Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 9 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. Go beyond recreational diving and take part in hands-on coral restoration during a full-day Coral Restoration Foundation restoration program with Island Ventures in Key Largo.

The experience begins at the Coral Restoration Foundation Exploration Center, where participants learn about coral biology, threats facing Florida’s reefs, and the restoration techniques being used to help rebuild coral populations. Before heading offshore, divers practice restoration skills on land to prepare for the afternoon’s underwater work.

After the morning session, participants meet at Island Ventures at Pilot House Marina for a two-dive excursion. Depending on current restoration needs and conditions, dives may include visiting an offshore coral nursery to assist with maintenance and traveling to restoration sites where divers can help with coral outplanting or monitoring.

Because the underwater work requires careful movement around sensitive corals and restoration structures, participants must be certified divers and demonstrate good buoyancy control. Space is limited, and advance reservations are required. Snorkeler and rider options may also be available for those who want to participate without scuba diving.

The program fee is $125 for divers, including tanks and weights, plus a $50 donation to Coral Restoration Foundation. Participants should confirm current equipment requirements and availability when reserving their space.

Spend a day learning from coral restoration practitioners, dive into the science of reef recovery, and take an active role in helping restore the Florida Reef Tract in Key Largo.
