CFK Pentathlon Swim Meet & Key West Open Water Swim (2026)
Dive into the clear, warm waters of Key West during the Open Water Swims at Higgs Beach, held following the start of The College of the Florida Keys Swim Around Key West.
Swimmers can choose from 800-yard, 1-mile, and 2-mile events, each following a scenic loop course through the Atlantic waters off Higgs Beach. Along the way, participants may catch glimpses of colorful fish, coral, sea turtles, and other marine life — and perhaps even a dolphin or a mythical Key West mermaid!
No personal support crew is required. Lifeguards stationed in kayaks and boats will be positioned along the course to support swimmer safety, allowing participants to focus on the challenge and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
After the final swimmers complete the 2-mile course, participants can gather for an awards ceremony recognizing competitors in all three distances.
Whether you’re an experienced open-water swimmer or looking for a memorable way to test yourself in paradise, these events combine athletic challenge, tropical scenery, and classic Key West fun.
Grab your goggles and make a splash in one of Key West’s most beautiful open-water settings!
Event funding provided by the Monroe County Tourism Development Council.
